Here are a few of our favorite places in Elk River, Minnesota.

Elk River, Minnesota, is a beautiful town with a local charm. It’s only 40 miles northwest of Minneapolis, but it still maintains a personal feel. Today, we want to highlight some of our favorite spots in Elk River so that you can love where you live.

There are 41 parks and 75 plus miles of paved walking and biking paths, many of which are along the Mississippi River. You’ll find something for everyone to enjoy within Elk River. This city has taken great lengths to improve many parks, public spaces and beaches to provide year round enjoyment for all who visit and live in this great community.

The city of Elk River not only has well-known restaurant chains and retail stores, there are unique shops and dining options as well, providing a positive impact on local business. For example, Daddy-O’s Cafe offers a fun 60’s aesthetic complete with classic shakes and diner food.

Meanwhile, the historic downtown offers many retail and dining options sure to fit whatever you’re in the mood for. It’s just a short drive away from Elk River Golf Club, which provides a space for meetings or other banquets. There’s also the Caddyshack Grill, the perfect place to unwind after a game of golf.

One of our favorite places is Aegir Brewing Company. Their new taproom has a sleek, modern design, and their extensive menu is full of delicious choices. The outside patio is a great spot to sip your favorite brew, and its dog friendly! There’s a fenced in area for your pups to make new friends! Grab a bite to eat from the rotating food trucks and cop a squat at one of the many picnic tables or high tops! There’s even a Frisbee Golf area! So much fun!

Elk River is home to beautiful nature and small town charm.

Woodland Trails Regional Park offers year round activities and fun for everyone! It includes the Great Northern Trail, a 4 and ¾ mile paved trail that begins at County Road 1 and runs through the park and the 427 acres of dense woods, prairies and wetlands. Check out their trail map here.

If you’re a fan of the outdoors, there are plenty of parks and trails for you to enjoy. Especially if you have a dog, they’re sure to enjoy the trails and pet-friendly outdoor spaces. Our pup, Rocky, loves to hang out near the benches and take in the laughter. Observe the wildlife, enjoy the trails and take on a new hobby. Rocky gives the outdoor spaces 10 paws out of 10!

The William H Houlton Conservation area is 336 acres and located off Main St and the confluence of the Mississippi and Elk Rivers. Check out their hunting and hiking trails here. The area provides opportunities for public recreation including hunting, fishing, wildlife observation and canoeing.
